I just found information on the The Global Cardboard Challenge and as it is on the 11 October 2014, have no time to organise anything but it is worth reading information about the event and be ready for next year. But there is know reason why you can't go out and build something whether you are registered or not.
The event is inspired by a short documentary film called 'Caine's Arcade' which again shows the creative possibilities of cardboard when you add imagination.
