Gimme Shelter Workshop

The workshop on Saturday 25 October runs from 10 - 12 at The Commons, participants will have a pallet to work on or to use some of the security fencing to build against. Building on the pallet means we will be able to move the work, which will part of the FESTA 2014 exhibition.

Makedo

Makedo is a simple construction set made up of reusable fixings that make building simple and more complex structures out of cardboard easy. We will be using some  during the Gimme Shelter workshop and below are some example and more can be seen at their website.

Animals and Shelters

Most living things need shelter in some form or another and many animals and insects make and use shelters whether it is a snail with its shell to termites living in their communal home. They can provide great ideas of how to use locally, readily available materials and innovative solutions to providing shelter for themselves.

Shelters

Shelters come in all shapes and sizes from a simple tent to complex buildings and made from many different materials.

Cardboard

For the workshop we will be using cardboard as our main material, something we are all familiar with but with a little creativity and imagination can be turned into a huge range of things from a chair to a cathedral and everything in between.
